1st Sergeant Bryon Guidry

First Sergeant Bryon J. Guidry Sr. is the Enlisted Army Instructor for the St. Martin Parish School Board, with duty at the College and Career Readiness Center located in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

                He enlisted in the Army in New Orleans MEPS in April of 1998 and attended Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  First Sergeant Guidry subsequently became a Human Intelligence Collection and Interrogation Specialist and served in the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; New Orleans Recruiting Battalion, New Orleans, Louisiana; Allied Forces North NATO Battalion, Brunssum, The Netherlands; 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta (Delta Force), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 66th Military Intelligence Brigade, Wiesbaden, Germany; 1st Special Forces Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina;  and U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. First Sergeant Guidry Deployed six times during his 20 year career, three to Iraq and three to Afghanistan in support of combat operations.

                His military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, First Sergeant Course, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape Course, Combat Skills Course, Basic Special Operations Support Course, Advanced Special Operations Support Course, Combat and Evasive Driving Course, Army Recruiter Course, Sexual Assault and Rape Prevention Advocate Course, Military First Responders Course.  He also earned his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Intelligence Operations and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

                His military awards and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, six Good Conduct Medals, two NATO Medals, the Superior Unit Award, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award,  two Meritorious Unit Commendations, Expert Marksmanship Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Driver’s Badge, German Armed Forces Badge of Marksmanship (Gold), German Master Parachutist Badge, German Sports Badge (Bronze), and various other service awards and citations.

                After retiring from the Army in 2018, after 20 years of service, First Sergeant Guidry attended the Peace Officers Standard Training Course and became a commissioned Deputy with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office. First Sergeant Guidry served in the roll of Patrol Deputy before becoming a Detective with the Criminal Investigations Division.

First Sergeant Guidry was born and raised in Houma, Louisiana and currently resides in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.  He has been married to his wife Yvette for 16 years and they have four children together.
